“Don’t be mad at the results you didn’t get from the work you didn’t do”
This quote from Autumn Calabrese, a Beachbody trainer, highlights the importance of putting in the work to achieve results and goals we set for ourselves. In a time where entrepreneurship and self-work is becoming more popular in the “post” COVID era, this quote offers a unique perspective and is the inspiration for one of EverSan Cooper’s CEO Elizabeth Greever’s YouTube video.
In the video, Elizabeth talks about the importance of reflecting on tasks that moves her small business forward as opposed to tasks that need to get done but does not necessarily carry business growing value. Essentially, in our personal lives and professional lives, what are we doing to be productive versus just feeling like we are productive. For example, you can check and answer emails ten times a day and feel very busy (oh the satisfaction of seeing the inbox go to 0). However, compared to batching emails to once a day and spending the rest of the uninterrupted time brainstorming business ideas or working on a new and upcoming project is more productive towards the health and value of the business than small tasks. Yes, the small tasks need to be done but can they be organized and completed so that those tasks do not get in the way of meaningful work. Being able to come up with a system that works for you consistently is the key of achieving THAT balance!
